When Joe told us about his totally awesome and completely unexpected proposal to Carley on the streets of Oakland, we knew it was the perfect location for their engagement session. Carley and Joe love spending time outdoors together, and it definitely showed on the day of their shoot. A few spring showers did nothing to slow them down as we made our away around their stomping grounds to some of Oakland’s best locations.

They got creative by spelling out heir wedding date, “5-4-13,” with their fingers for a cute Save-the-Date. Figuring out exactly how to contort themselves to achieve this made for some hilarious moments, but as you can see, they totally nailed it. We ended things with a few shots on Mt. Washington, where Carley lives. Carley, Joe, and the city looked great even with those April showers!

Thanks Carley and Joe – we can’t wait for your wedding!

Nothing screams “Spring Wedding” like brightly-colored tulips, a few showers, and of course, a great couple in love! Kate and Jon are both doctors and are a perfect match for one another. They planned a remarkable Spring wedding day, and we were honored to photograph it.

A few early morning showers meant that Kate and Jon’s “first look” planned for outside Station Square had to be moved to inside the Sheraton. As you can see it worked PERFECTLY! Kate was able to see Jon from a distance as she approached him on the lobby balcony, which added to her excitement and made for some excellent photos.

Heinz Chapel is always spectacular, and Kate and Jon brought a burst of spring color to it’s regal interior with their bridal party’s yellow accents and brightly-colored tulips.

Their reception was held at Phipps Conservatory in Oakland. The atrium at Phipps made for an exceptional cocktail hour as Kate and Jon mingled with their guests. The gorgeous backdrop with flowers by Lilli-Maeg Floral Specialties and live music by Three Rivers Entertainment provided the perfect setting for a night of celebrating as Kate, Jon, and their guests danced the night away.

Thank you Kate and Jon for letting us be part of your day!

Let’s cut to the chase. Evan and Lauren are a totally rad couple. We met them through mutual friends and felt an instant connection. They have great taste in movies, comics, music, killer style, and share a wicked sense of humor. When we heard they were getting married we thought, “This will be interesting…”. When they asked us to photograph their wedding, we thought “Hell yes!”. As the details of the day unfolded, we knew it was going to rock. Centered around a Steampunk theme, their wedding was as unique as Evan and Lauren’s personalities.

Aly and I met the bridal party at the Hampton Inn in the Strip District for preparations. While Aly captured Lauren as she prepared to slip into her stunning Chrissy Wai-Ching dress, I joined Evan in the parking lot for the traditional pre-wedding aviator goggle preparation (which just happened to require a power drill).

The Strip District offers some of Pittsburgh’s finest grittiness, which fit the Steampunk theme of the day perfectly. After a quick photo session with Evan and his groomsmen (complete with gun-equipped sword-cane groomsmen gifts), it was time for the much anticipated “First Look”.

After they spent a few moments together, we joined the soon-to-be-married couple for a bangin’ photo shoot which even included a little William Tell action. Yes, Studio Bash came prepared with a bow and arrow and a bag of apples. After hanging out with the entire bridal party for some more photo fun, we walked through the Strip to the ceremony site.

This was our first wedding at Altar Bar, and it proved to be the perfect choice for the day, completely decked out in floating blimps, sprockets and other industrial era paraphernalia. Evan and Lauren were married on Altar Bar’s stage, a space typically occupied by rock groups, while blimps and glimpses of the slowly setting evening sun hovered over their guests.

After dinner, famed Pittsburgh DJ Michael Devine, a.k.a. DJ Zombo, kept the dance floor moving from behind his custom made “Zombotron.” And mid-reception, Evan and Lauren received an unexpected gift: Super Evan & Super Lauren action figures. Awesome!

Thank you Evan and Lauren for letting us be part of your super creative and original day. And a special thanks to Nicole White and Laura Pliskin of On the Nose Events, who helped with planning and preparations. Enjoy some of our favorite images from their day!

Ashley and Ryan are engaged! Although these two live just outside of D.C. now, Ryan spent his childhood growing up in the North Side of Pittsburgh. We thought that his old stompin’ grounds would be the perfect backdrop for their session – especially since we LOVE shooting there! They brought along their adorable dog, Siena, for a few pictures in the park. Being a rescue dog, she was quite shy and cautious with us (and our big cameras), but we were able to get her attention and win her over with some treats :) Ashley and Ryan will be getting married this coming November, and we can’t wait to be a part of their big day. Enjoy some of our favorites from the shoot!

The 2012 season is in full swing and we couldn’t be happier! After the holidays we are always anxious to kick off the year, and Jen and Dan’s wedding was a great way to start.

We spent a fun morning with Jen, her family, and bridesmaids for preparations before heading to Duquesne campus. Jen and Dan both graduated from Duquesne and were excited to return for their ceremony. While strategically dodging a mid-January rain/wind/snow combo, we rocked the campus for some pre-ceremony shots. Jen and bridesmaids enjoyed the comfort of the sky walk over Forbes Avenue, while the guys toughed out the chilly weather.

Jen and Dan had a beautiful ceremony at Duquesne Chapel with gorgeous music by some of Jen’s musically inclined friends. After the ceremony, we headed back onto campus for some more pictures and partying before heading to the Circuit Center in the South Side for their reception.

The always entertaining Eric Wenning from Wenning Entertainment kept the party going from start to finish as Jen, Dan, and their guests stayed on the dance floor all night. A special thanks to Kimberley Vines of Bellissima Occasions for her excellent coordination.

Thanks to Jen, Dan and all of their family and friends for such a fun wedding day! Check out some of our favorite images below:

It was very fitting for Elise and Craig, who will be getting married this coming September, to schedule their engagement session in the Winter. They originally met on the ski slopes – where they volunteered their time teaching disabled individuals to ski. In fact, Elise told us that they hardly have any photos of themselves where they aren’t wearing their ski gear. Needless to say, they LOVE Winter sports! So we thought it would be great to take advantage of a chilly January afternoon and photograph the two of them “heating it up” in the freezing cold weather. We even got lucky enough to have some snow flurries towards the end of the session – a perfect surprise for the couple who loves the cold! Check out a few of our favorites from the session.

Shooting a friend’s wedding is great for two reasons. It’s awesome to share in a friend’s big day and also an excellent way to catch up with old friends. Chris and Kristy’s wedding certainly fulfilled both of these expectations. We started the day downtown at the always stunning Fairmont Hotel for Kristy’s preparations. The beautifully lit lobby provided a perfect location for pictures as this particular wedding day greeted us with some early morning precipitation.

We’re always happy to be shooting a ceremony at St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Washington, and Chris and Kristy’s was no exception. The church’s interior combined with Grandview Avenue’s unique perspective of Pittsburgh is a great way to show off the city to out-of-town guests. After a quick stop for pictures outside of the church, we headed to West Park on the North Side where the bridal party braved the rain and cold for some additional pictures.

We got to do a bit of traveling for the reception and headed over to Youngstown, Ohio’s B&O Station. This former train station has since been converted to a banquet hall and beer brewery on the bank of the Mahoning River. By the time we arrived, the sun was shining and we were lucky enough to grab a few more shots of the bride and groom before heading into the reception for a night of dinner and dancing with a great guest list of family and friends. The excellent DJ Sam Crawford rocked the B&O until last call. Congratulations Chris and Kristy!

2011 was a year full of wonderful weddings and fabulous couples, and we were thrilled to end our season photographing Ann Marie and Doug’s big day. We LOVE how we get to experience the changing seasons in Pittsburgh and these two gave us the chance to photograph both a wonderful autumn engagement session AND a winter wedding. We greatly enjoyed both, mostly because Ann Marie and Doug are a perfect match!

In our opinion, they planned an exceptional winter wedding. We started the day with Ann Marie and her sister at the Renaissance Hotel for early morning preparations before heading to Heinz Chapel for the ceremony. Ann Marie continued to get ready in the bridal room at Heinz Chapel while Doug braved the cold (and some snow) for a few pictures outside.

Doug and Ann Marie shared a beautiful ceremony as the sun slowly set outside. The lights outside the chapel beautifully accentuated the massive stained glass work giving their ceremony a peaceful and serene feel.

After their beautiful ceremony, we headed back to the Renaissance Hotel and took advantage of its gorgeous interior for some fabulous shots – safe from the Pittsburgh weather outside. Ann Marie and Doug enjoyed the rest of their wedding day with an elegant night of dancing and live music with their closest family and friends.

Thank you Ann Marie and Doug for letting us be a part of your day and giving us a great way to end the 2011 wedding season! Check out some of our favorite images below:

Megan and Ed had a lot to smile about on their wedding day. Let’s start with a mid November wedding with absolutely beautiful weather. Next, they were surrounded with an AMAZING group of family and friends who love to laugh and have a good time. Lastly, did we mention what a perfect match these two are? Megan and Ed are totally connected – and it really shows in their photos. What a dream day!

We started the day at Megan’s house and really enjoyed hanging out with her family and bridal party. As an added bonus, the fabulous Justine from Beauty Justified (who is also Megan’s cousin) did her makeup. As you can see below, the results were breathtaking!

Megan and Ed decided to kick off the day with a “first look” at Megan’s house. If you follow our blog, you know by now that we love when our couples choose to incorporate this into their wedding day.

After a great “first look” (Ed totally rocked it and Megan looked FANTASTIC) we headed to Peter’s Lake Park to hang out with the bridal party for a few photos. Next up was the ceremony at St. Louise de Marillac Church in the South Hills. This was our first time photographing there, and its unique architecture made for great pictures both inside and out.

We also had the pleasure of another Studio Bash first – shooting at The University Club in Oakland. Eric Schiemer of Schiemer Entertainment Services joined us at the reception and threw one awesome party. Eric is a class act and we always look forward to spending a night partying with him.

We really love it when our couples incorporate personal details into their weddings, and Megan and Ed had a truly original idea. Ed is a professional runner, so each table featured numbers from different races Ed had run. Love it!

The University Club was a perfectly elegant setting for a night of celebrating. Thank you Megan and Ed for choosing us to be part of your day! Check out more of our favorite photos below:

Erica and Lee, or E+L as friends and family call them, are a truly amazing couple who planned an equally amazing wedding day! To kick things off we met up with E+L at the Holiday Inn in Oakland for preparations. Surrounded by family and friends, it was easy to see how excited they each were to get the day started. Luckily, they didn’t have to wait long to see each other since they chose to do a “first look”.

Studio Bash is a HUGE fan of “first looks” and this one was perfect! After hanging out with their respective bridal parties for some pictures around Oakland, Erica and Lee met each other behind Heinz Chapel to share the first few romantic moments of their day together. So how do you top off a perfect “first look?” With more photos, of course!

E+L are all about pictures, and we took full advantage of some of Oakland’s best locations before ending up at the Carnegie Museum for their ceremony and reception. Surrounded by a great group of family and friends Erica and Lee shared in a beautiful ceremony in the Sculpture Hall before heading into the Musical Hall Foyer for their reception. Studio Bash would like to send huge thanks out to Erica, Lee, and their families for including us in such a spectacular day. Check out our favorite images from their day below.
