When Joe told us about his totally awesome and completely unexpected proposal to Carley on the streets of Oakland, we knew it was the perfect location for their engagement session. Carley and Joe love spending time outdoors together, and it definitely showed on the day of their shoot. A few spring showers did nothing to slow them down as we made our away around their stomping grounds to some of Oakland’s best locations.

They got creative by spelling out heir wedding date, “5-4-13,” with their fingers for a cute Save-the-Date. Figuring out exactly how to contort themselves to achieve this made for some hilarious moments, but as you can see, they totally nailed it. We ended things with a few shots on Mt. Washington, where Carley lives. Carley, Joe, and the city looked great even with those April showers!

Ashley and Ryan are engaged! Although these two live just outside of D.C. now, Ryan spent his childhood growing up in the North Side of Pittsburgh. We thought that his old stompin’ grounds would be the perfect backdrop for their session – especially since we LOVE shooting there! They brought along their adorable dog, Siena, for a few pictures in the park. Being a rescue dog, she was quite shy and cautious with us (and our big cameras), but we were able to get her attention and win her over with some treats Ashley and Ryan will be getting married this coming November, and we can’t wait to be a part of their big day. It was very fitting for Elise and Craig, who will be getting married this coming September, to schedule their engagement session in the Winter. They originally met on the ski slopes – where they volunteered their time teaching disabled individuals to ski. In fact, Elise told us that they hardly have any photos of themselves where they aren’t wearing their ski gear. Needless to say, they LOVE Winter sports! So we thought it would be great to take advantage of a chilly January afternoon and photograph the two of them “heating it up” in the freezing cold weather. We even got lucky enough to have some snow flurries towards the end of the session – a perfect surprise for the couple who loves the cold! Check out a few of our favorites from the session.

Bree and Bill are engaged! They are planning their Pittsburgh wedding from out of town, so needless to say, we’ve communicated a LOT through phone conversations and emails over the past couple of months. When they told us that they would be visiting Pittsburgh in early May, we immediately started brainstorming ideas for their engagement session. Bree and Bill both loved the idea of a retro-themed, 50’s-inspired picnic shoot, and we couldn’t have agreed more that it was the PERFECT setting for the two of them.

Bill’s brother-in-law’s family (who lives in Pittsburgh) was generous enough to donate their vintage car for the afternoon. This Ford Galaxie was the PERFECT prop for our retro day in the park.

Nothing screams 50’s like MILKSHAKES!!!

We finished up the afternoon with a little romantic game of croquet – how sweet are these two?

Chris and Amy are engaged! Their wedding date is July 4th this year, and we’re so excited to get to spend the day with them. They currently reside in North Carolina, but were able to meet us for their engagement session during one of their busy wedding planning trips to the ‘Burgh. Choosing the South Side and Mt. Washington for their session, we were able to combine the urban feel they were looking for with great views of the city.

Taressa and Kevin are engaged! They will be getting married this coming July, so we went to Chatham University (Taressa’s alma mater) for their engagement session. Stephanie and Corey are a great couple. We first met them when we photographed Stephanie’s sister Jamie’s wedding a few years ago. They will be getting married in just a few weeks, and we are so excited to be a part of the wedding day. For their engagement session, we hiked around Oakland and traveled over to the South Side too. Their wedding is going to have a “skyline of Pittsburgh” theme to it this coming Fall, so we decided to incorporate some different views of the city into their session – especially the vantage points on the North Shore and Mount Washington.
